Our History

The trust is established in the year 1999 with the objective of serving rural people with multifaceted approach based on the principle of Swami Vivekananda, "Service to mankind is service to God".

Bhagini Nivedita was foreign disciple of Swami Vivekananda who devoted her whole life to serve in India. She served by teaching children, nursing diseased during epidemics of plague .

Mrs. Sindhutai Dhakar was inspired with her work and established this trust to serve the rural people in Buldana district which is one of the backward district in state of Maharashtra in India.

Dongaon is a rural place surrounded by over 40 villages with in radius of 15 kms. In the year 1999 there was not even one English medium school in this village, even though there were high schools in Marathi medium. Rural students are usually weak in subjects like English, Science & Mathematics. Most of the rural students drop out from the  school due to fear of English language. Many students appearing for school secondary examination fail in English subject & there after miss the opportunity to study higher education which is usually in English medium.

Taking this scenario into account, Mrs. Sindhutai Dhadkar at the age of 55 yr, started English medium Pre Primary School.  By seeing over whelming response of 80 students in preprimary classes and most of the parents forced her to start primary English medium School at Dongaon,In the year 2000 she started “Jeevan Vikas Convent” at her residence at Dongaon. Gradually the students living in the surrounding villages got to know the progress of Jeevan Vikas Convent and they started their learning journey. With the advent of transport facilities the school has progressed up-to XII th Standard & now strength of school is over 400 students.

About Our inspirations

Swami Vivekanand

Swami Vivekananda believed that education is the manifestation of the perfection already present in man. For him, true education was not just about acquiring information but about building character, strengthening the mind, and developing self-confidence to face the challenges of life.

He emphasized that:

  • Character building is the essence of education
  • Knowledge without values is incomplete.
  • Self-reliance and confidence are central
  • Education should empower individuals to stand on their own feet.
  • Practical application matters
  • Learning should not remain confined to books; it should prepare one for real-life action and service to society.
  • Holistic development is key – Education should nurture the body, mind, and spirit, enabling individuals to become strong, compassionate, and responsible citizens.

In his words, “We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one’s own feet.

Today, his vision inspires us to rethink education not just as information transfer but as a transformative journey that shapes human potential into a force for personal growth and social good.

Bhagini Nivedita

Bhagini Nivedita’s Vision of Education

Bhagini Nivedita, the devoted disciple of Swami Vivekananda, saw education as the most powerful means to awaken the potential of India, especially through the empowerment of women. She believed that true education must go beyond literacy—it must awaken the spirit of service, culture, and national pride.

She emphasized that:

  • Education must be rooted in culture -Learning should be connected with India’s traditions, values, and spiritual heritage.
  • Women’s education is nation’s education – By educating women, society nurtures generations and builds a stronger nation.
  • Education should inspire service – Knowledge finds its highest purpose when directed towards uplifting others.
  • Creative and practical learning – She advocated education that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and application to real life, not rote memorization.

In her words, “The present age is one of awakening. The time has come when the Indian woman must educate herself and take her rightful place in the building of the nation.”

Her vision reminds us that education is not only for personal progress but also for national awakening, nurturing generations of strong, enlightened, and compassionate individuals.
